Male British Crete holidaymaking hooligans dress up as nuns and offend local police

Comment

Oh dear, oh dear.

Now it is well known that the Greeks do not understand certain British eccentricities. Wasn’t that the country where certain plane spotters got arrested for spying? Of course nowadays you can get arrested in England for terrorism if you stand on a railway platform collecting train engine numbers.

Now if men dress up in women’s clothing in this day and age it must be considered normal. Isn’t the word ‘drag’? Is it an offense in Europe for men to dress up as women? After all women are wearing men’s clothes all the time.

It is of course ludicrous.

In this more and more non Christian Europe is it an offense to wear nun’s habits? Well if these men had been making fun of Moslem women one imagines there would have been all hell to pay.

If they are making the English look utterly stupid why should the Greeks worry?
The behaviour of the men in question was of course utterly appalling and quite lets the side down. Now if the Greeks still used public stocks and had put these individuals (not exactly men and certainly not women) in them for 48 hours, perhaps situated in the town square, all in their feminine finery, with perhaps a carrot protruding from somewhere I’d rather not mention, that might have cleared the problem up once and for all

Greeks free nun-dressed Britons

The men appeared in court in the clothes they had on when arrested
Seventeen British men arrested for wearing nuns' habits and accused of offensive behaviour have been freed by a court on the Greek island of Crete.

The prosecutors dropped the charges against them after no one showed up to testify that they had been upset by the tourists' conduct.

The men, who were also wearing women's lingerie, spent a night in police cells in Crete wearing their outfits.

They appeared in court on Monday in the clothes they had on when arrested.
